Question #1:

My head's going to explode! Do I need an XM receiver if I have an XM-ready car stereo?

I will be ever so grateful if I can find help here as an hour of googling has me about as confused as I was before. Here's what I want to do:

My wife currently has an XM Roady XT and for Christmas wants a boombox what allows for docking of the Roady to play XM wherever she goes (primarily in the house).
Our aniversary is 2 days after Christmas, so I want to wrap these gifts together by:

Christmas gift - Purchasing a boombox such as an XM Audiovox Xpress portable boombox to use with her existing XM Roady.
I've read that docking and undocking the XM Roady can damage the Roady's "port" or whatever it's called. So I'd like to have her just keep the Roady in the boombox and this leads me to her anniversary gift.

Anniversary gift - I would like to purchase a stereo for her Corolla that will replace the factory stereo that will play XM channels without the need for another XM receiver so she doesn't have to keep moving her XM Roady from the boombox to the car. I know I will have to have another subscription for this, so I'm prepared for a price hike in monthly payments (which I'm already paying).

My question- does the car stereo description "XM Ready" mean it serves as a receiver and no external receiver is needed to listen to XM?

I am looking at the JVC KD-R800 that is described as "XM Ready" and I hope this means all I'll need to do is activate a new account with XM to have this playing XM as well.
Is this how things work or am I still confused?

Thanks tremendously in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Question #2:

Will a Sirius XM Mirge radio work with a universal Sirius radio boombox?

I currently have a Sportster 5 playing on a Sirius universal boombox. If I get a mirge radio, will I be able to use it with the equipment I already have? I was also wondering if I would need to buy a new home antenna to pick up a signal from both Sirius and XM satellites.

Question #3:

Can you use the headphone output to a line in jack without damage?

I'd like to connect my XM Boombox to my stereo receiver via the headphone jack from the boombox, to the rca type input jacks on the back of my stereo receiver. Can this be done without causing damage to my stereo receiver or the boombox?

Question #4:

Can you play fm radio stations from different states on xm radio?

I want a radio (boombox) that can play Power 105.1 fm in New York from another (state).
I can access it from my laptop but it it stops streaming after a while because I don't have a fast enough connection.

Question #5:

Does the XM Skyfi3 work in the older Skyfi equipment?

I currently have XM Radio car kits and a boombox that work with Delphi Skyfi1 & Skyfi2. I'm interested in a Skyfi3, but I am not sure it will work with my existing equipment. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use my existing kits, or will I need new ones to work with the newer Skyfy3 reciever.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question #6:

My Delphi XM Radio system doesn't work?

I just got it, this morning after I activiated it and put the radio in the boombox it turned on but I got no sound, now, when I try to turn it on it just flashes briefly and doesn't do that. Any clue out there? Everything is connected properly, I've quadruple checked that.

Question #7:

I'm looking for a new stereo with multi-CD, radio and cassette deck.?

I'd like a 3- or 5-CD small shelf model. A portable boombox would be ok if it is multi-CD.

I've looked at bestbuy.com and many of the models have iPod/USB, or XM satellite (or other) capabilities which I do NOT want/need.

Any recommendations on a decent, quality brand? Something in the $150 range. I'm not looking for huge speakers, sub-woofers or anything extra.

Or another website that compares brands?

Question #8:

XM Delphi boombox repair - ?

I own a Delphi 10034 boombox, which is the model that flips from XM radio on one side to CD player/am-fm radio on the other. One day I tried to "flip it" and it seemed stuck -- so, I forced it a bit (I know, never a good idea). Now, it's "stuck" on the other side, and I can hear something rattling inside when I pick up the radio. Has anyone ever dealt with this and figured out how to fix it? Any info would be appreciated!

Question #14:

Interested in getting XM Radio....?

I am thinking of asking for xm radio for Christmas/my birthday (since they are 5 days apart.) Any suggestions? I am kinda young, I will be turning 16 this christmas so I don't need any thing too fancy...

I have been curently looking at The Samsung NeXus 25/50. I have an digital audio player (mp3,wma) thats a Samsung YP-T6 and I am really impressed with Samsungs quality of sound.

I would like something portable for home and car, for vacations and stuff like that. The Pioneer Inno is too much, so is the Samsung Helix, and I hear that reception is not that great unless you like in NYC or something. And I have also looked at the MyFi and the Tao but I just feel that the Samsung NeXus looks better. There is also that $50 rebate goin on now.

How does the Delphi XM Roady XT work? XMradio.com says that it is: portable, auto, home, and boombox. So does this mean that you can just walk around with it getting good reception? I'm not entirely sure about how this one works....

Thanks
